Economics
A Brief History of the Department
The Government Degree College, Amadalavalasa started functioning with B.A., course with History, Economics and Local Self Government in the year m 1984. At that time 2 posts were sanctioned for Economics. As there is dire need of Lecturer in Local Self Govt. to the College the then College Administration submitted proposals to convert one post of Lecturer in Economics in to Lecturer in Local self Govt. Subsequently the 2nd post of Lecturer in Economics shifted from this College for want of work load and allotted to another needy College. In course of time the Local self Govt. Subject lost its importance due to lack of employment opportunities and the students are also not paying interest to join in B.A., History, Politics and Local self Govt. group combination. Keeping in view of these circumstances and to cater the academic needs of the students, the then College administration submitted proposals to start a new combination in B.A., i.e. History, Economics and Political Science and got permission to start the new combination (B.A., History, Economics and politics) in the College from the academic year 2015-16 under Self Finance Scheme. Subsequently, One post of Rural Development is being shifted from Government Degree college, Tekkali to Amadalavalasa and converted to Economics subject in 2018.
